HISTORY
Equitas Capital’s origins date back to the year 2000 with the establishment of Latinvalley, founded to invest primarily in IT-related businesses in South America.
During 2001 and 2002, the firm also acted as the investment management team of Mifactory, a fund, sponsored by Ericsson and Saab, focused on enabling technologies and applications in the mobile Internet arena in Latin America. The firm was responsible for structuring and closing the Mifactory Fund I and for the fund’s initial investment in Brazil-based Spring Wireless, a global leader in platform technology for enterprise mobility software.
From inception through 2006, Latinvalley invested in companies in the education, travel and IT-services sectors. To date, all but two portfolio companies have been divested.
Equitas Capital Fund I, a fund primarily targeting environmental services in Chile, was established in 2008.
Equitas Capital Fund II, a fund primarily targeting natural resources-related industries in Chile, was established in 2010.
The firm is now establishing Equitas Capital International Fund I, its first international fund for investments in South America.
